Visiting Artists

Visiting Artists

Going back to The Collaboratory’s Blue Sky Project, which was founded in 2005 in Chicago and was the impetus for the move to Dayton in 2009, the organization has been actively engaged in the local art scene, operating pop-up gallery spaces in multiple locations and hosting visiting artists from around the world.

Ben Ibebe

A frequent visitor to to Dayton is Ben Ibebe (http://www.benibebe.com/), a internationally-known Nigerian artist who is making his fourth visit to Dayton in 2020. Ben’s works are held in major museums and private collections around the world.

He focuses on images of West Africa using vibrant, captivating and very tactile paintings in oil and mixed media. Featuring everyday scenes of Nigerian life, Ben’s unique impasto technique give each art work an almost three-dimensional surface, adding character to bright colors and geometric composition. Ben holds a B.A. in Visual Arts, from University of Port Harcourt
